Rheumatic fever - Rheumatic fever is an inflammatory disease which may develop after a Group A streptococcal infection (such as strep throat or scarlet fever) and can involve the heart, joints, skin, and brain.

Lassa fever - Lassa fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic fever first described in 1969 in the Nigerian town of Lassa in the Yedseram River valley. Clinical cases of the disease had been known for over a decade earlier but not connected with this viral pathogen.

Polymer fume fever - Polymer fume fever is an inhalation fever and occurs when PTFE is heated above 300 °C. When PTFE is heated above 450 °C, the pyrolysis products are different and may cause acute lung injury if controls to enclose the fume have not been installed.

Rat-bite fever - Rat-bite fever is an acute, febrile human illness caused by bacteria transmitted by rodents, rats in most cases. Two types of gram-negative facultatively anaerobic bacteria can cause the infection, which is passed from rodent to human via the rodent's urine or mucous secretions.
